Review: Hantaran Bertunang

This entry will review on my hantaran for bertunang 2 bulan lepas.
As i said before, it was really simple.
Aku tak suka sangat hantaran yang banyak-banyak bunga. Lagipon kos untuk beli bunga tu je dah berapa puluh ringgit boleh habis. So, to make it look kinda cute, aku pakai ribbon sahaja.
Aku habis around...less than RM50 untuk beli semua barang-barang hiasan untuk hantaran tu.

 Ribbon = Dalam RM25
(ada yg aku beli dekat S&J, ada yg aku beli dekat kedai kahwin, the rest tu recycle ribbon lama-lama..hihi)
Bakul = Dalam RM20
(ada aku pakai yg bakul hantaran abg2 aku dulu, ada yg aku beli dekat DAISO sebab RM5 je. Jimat.)

Dan akhirnya jadilah sebegini rupa.
Maaflah...simple-simple sahaja.

Hope this will be good reference untuk sesiapa yg nak bertunang tapi nak berjimat. (kalau bahasa kasar, tak banyak duit)
Biasalah..aku faham macam mana situasi tersebut. =)
Jangan malu untuk jadi simple.

Yang berjimat,

Idea for My Wedding Dress

Semenjak dua menjak ni, tangan aku asyik Google gambar-gambar pengantin, like page-page kahwin, tengok dress-dress kahwin, beli majalah-majalah pengantin. Oh....macam ni lah rupanya mood orang nak kahwin. Sampai habis semua assignment dengan dissertation aku terbengkalai macam tu je.

Setakat ni aku dah jumpa dah idea for my wedding dress will look alike. Puas dah cari theme colour, dress style, and aku rasa ni semua yang aku suka. Aku tak payah nak tempah-tempah designer macam artis-artis lain tu. Aku dah ada fashion designer aku sendiri. And she is my MOM. The very talented one and all her jahitan very kemas and selesa.
Banyak save budget bila baju wedding buat sendiri. For QS macam aku ni, cut cost is the main priority. Hehehe.

Wedding Reception

For wedding reception dekat rumah aku nanti, aku nak buat macam design ni. Seriously aku memang minat dress macam ni. Since aku DIY wedding dress sendiri, so, penggunaan bridal lace tu dapat dikurangkan sebab dia cuma pakai dekat bahagian atas dan lengan sahaja.
The other thing yg buat aku mmg suka baju ni is, dia tak nampak kan badan aku sangat disebabkan oleh kain satin yg dah flowy tu. So, segala lemak dan buncit dapat disorokkan. haha.
For the colour, i'd choose GREY. The whole wedding theme tu nanti would be GREY + PINK.
The bride and groom akan pakai the grey colour and my whole family will wear pink colour as their suits.
Untuk blend kan warna aku dengan warna family, aku akan tambah sedikit beads warna pink dekat baju tu nanti dengan Hand Bouquet warna pink.

Majlis Bertandang

Majlis bertandang dekat rumah lelaki pulak nanti, aku selesa kalau pakai simple-simple je sebab majlis tu nanti akan combine dengan majlis kahwin adik perempuan dia. So, i suppose bagi adik dia lagi menyerlah dari aku kan. Tapi masalahnya sekarang ni aku confuse nak pilih design yg macam mana. Before ni aku memang dah berkenan dengan corak yg macam 2 gambar yg first tu. Tapi haritu aku terjumpa pulak yg gambar dekat kanan sekali tu. Sangat cantik kan. Tapi takdelah aku nak buat kain meleret yang macam tu. Buat rugi kain je. So, as to solve the kerunsingan, aku rasa better pergi kedai kain and tengok kain style mana yg lagi murah. Haha.
Tapi, untuk warna tema, dia dah pilih da warna LIGHT BLUE. Ok kan.

Solemnization

Hah....baju untuk ni dah siap beli dah pon. Adik aku yang belikan.
Terharu. :')
Ibu dah pesan dah siap-siap, baju untuk akad nikah ni jangan reveal lagi dekat pengantin lelaki. It would be surprise for him. Hihihi. Tapi warna dia PUTIH la.

Ohhh...can't wait to see all the dresses siap nanti. Tak sabar nak cuba.
Tq ibu. You are the greatest ever in my life.
Heart you.

Yang dah mengantuk,

A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PAPER-BASED AND COMPUTER-BASED METHOD IN APPLYING TAKING-OFF IN THE MEASUREMENT SUBJECT

by; Raja Noor Etika bt Raja Sa'ad (IIUM)

Abstract
This research paper explains that measurement is the core ability of a Quantity Surveyor since few mistakes of calculation will cause losses to the project. Thus, Quantity Surveying students need to understand deeply their profession undertake in the future. This study aims to compare the two types of method in applying taking-off during the measurement which are paper-based and computer-based that has been taught to the students at the institutions and determines which method is the best option to do the measurement. By using quantitative method, a questionnaire survey has been constructed and distributed to the various institutions and the results show that all of them are still using the paper-based method for the measurement subject but most of them prefer to use the computer-based method.

Introduction
Reported by RICS (1992), Measurement is really important for a Quantity Surveyor (p.5). They have to measure all the works shown on the drawing produced by the Architect and Engineer. The process of measurement is commonly known as ‘taking-off’ which includes calculation and description of the works. The measured quantities are then being presented on standard traditional dimension paper or usually known as ‘slip sort’. The slip sort has four different columns and the taker-off should fill the columns accordingly.
However, when technology had been developed, modernization in doing measurement has been introduced. As stated by Willis (2007), “Computers have also had a major impact upon the profession of Quantity Surveying, in respect of the role and function of the Quantity Surveyor’s professional activities” (p.80). Among the softwares that are available in the market are Microsoft Office Excel, Digitizer, Ripac, CAD, QSCAD by Masterbill, BTOS by Buildsoft, CATO, BINALINK. All the softwares aid the Quantity Surveyor to do the taking-off accurately in a short time.
These two methods; paper-based and computer-based of applying taking-off have been introduced to the Quantity Surveying students in their Measurement subject for their knowledge in this field.

Statement of problem
Nowadays, all the firms out there are competing to provide the best services to the client by hiring a high quality of Quantity Surveyor. On the other hand, all the students are not aware which method is the best option for them to use it as primary. Thus, students must have their preferences method by now.

Data Analysis
Through the overall response by the 10 respondents to the questionnaire survey which is three males and seven females, they came from four different institutions. Five of them are from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), two of them are from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and another two come from Polytechnic while another one respondent is the student of University of Malaya (UM). The range of their level of study is mostly from degree level and only two of them are currently doing their diploma.

Conclusion
This research has successfully achieved its objectives where the practice and preference method haven been identified thus giving the advantages and disadvantages for the both method. Principally, the computer-based method was defined as the best option for the students in the Measurement Subject through the data gathered from this research.
Conclusively, the use of computer-based method at institutions in Malaysia is still low, even though the readiness level is generally high among the students. The lack of exposure is the main barrier. The step to increase the usage should be taking into consideration for the benefit of the profession and construction industry as a whole.
